Audrey Gauvreau was born September 3, 1933 at home on a farm in Whitemouth Manitoba, the oldest child of Bill and Evelyn Weiss. She contracted polio as a young child and spent many weeks in the hospital. In her 20’s she had a rod inserted and spent 5 months on a striker frame being turned over frequently. She was very patient and knit some sweaters as she healed.

She got her high school degree specializing in Accounting at Christian Training Institute in Edmonton. In a few years her sister Enid joined her. They roomed together until she married the love of her life Albert on February 14, 1968. They honeymooned in Hawaii, loved it so much they enjoyed many trips there.

She worked for the Provincial Government for some 35 years in Public Trustees Office and Probate Officer at the Court House, where she was loved and respected by lawyers and judges alike. She retired briefly and then become the first female Trust Officer in Alberta, also worked briefly for H&R Block.

After Albert passed away, she purchased a mobile home close to Enid & Bob in Phoenix, Arizona and spent the winters there for 25 years.

She loved her Lord and Savior deeply. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church for over 51 years. She joined the Ladies Bible Study and presented many meaningful devotionals. She rarely missed any services and her date squares and homemade ginger snaps were always a big hit.

She is survived by sisters ENID (Bob) Phoenix, CAROL (George) Worms, CHERYLE Allen; and brothers BRIAN (Carol) Weiss, DAVE (Pam) Weiss; God-daughter BRENDA Dziwenko; and a host of nieces and nephew and the recent addition of a great nephew.

She loved her family deeply and prayed for each one fervently and consistently and provided a listening ear when needed. She will be missed greatly, but so look forward to joining her in heaven.

We’d like to express our deep gratitude to the Lacombe Long Term Care Facility and their dedicated staff for caring for her these last years of her life.

Accolades to Faye and John Flynn who are very dear friends and blessed her with Tender Loving Care. Words can’t express our gratitude for those countless daily visits and acts of love.

Thank you for your love and support of Audrey and honoring her by being here today.
May God richly bless you.

In memory of Audrey donations can be made in her name, to the Cavalry Lutheran Church.

  1. We had the pleasure of meeting Audrey back in 1993 and we have had many great memories of our times with her.
We had many visits and dinners etc, while we were together in Edmonton, and we spent 10 winters in Phoenix in the same park as she lived in as well.
We were asked to be a care-giver for her during the past 2 years or so with her failing health, and she spent the last 18 months in the Long Term Care facility where we live, so we were able to see her on a daily basis and make sure that all her needs were being met.
We will cherish all the times we had with her, and may she rest in peace with her God that she loved so much.

  2. I attended Calvary for many years and considered Audrey a good friend. She had so much love for others and I always enjoyed my visits with her. She was so open, honest, and a kind person to be with. She is missed. Love and peace to her friends and family.

  3. My wonderful Aunt who always sent birthday cards. She even got me a raise at my first job! She will be missed.
