Bryan Joseph Simpson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bryan Joseph Simpson on January 7, 2025, at the age of 62. Born in Calgary on April 9, 1962, Bryan lived a life full of love, adventure, and kindness.
Bryan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Adele, and his parents, Christopher and Kathleen. He is survived by his sister, Linda; his children, Chelsa, Nicolas (Karen), and Amanda; his grandsons, Michael and Luke; and his great-grandson, Lennon. He also leaves behind his loyal and loving dog, Cooper, who was both his companion and best friend.
Bryan’s early years in Calgary were marked by a deep love of the outdoors and community. As a dedicated Scout, he developed skills and values that he carried throughout his life. His passion for sports began early, with fond memories of playing soccer and making it to provincials, as well as playing rugby in high school. This love for soccer and rugby stayed with him throughout adulthood, where he relished any opportunity to cheer on Team England and his beloved Tottenham Hotspurs. Watching matches and cheering on his teams brought him endless joy, and he loved sharing his passion with family and friends.
In 1980, Bryan moved to Edmonton to attend university, a city he would grow to call home. In 1985, he married the love of his life, Adele, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three children. When his children were young, Bryan was actively involved in their activities, volunteering with the Baturyn Community League, and supporting school events. He was a proud and dedicated father, always there to cheer his kids on at games, performances, and competitions.
Bryan worked as a courier for UPS for 27 years, a career he loved. His route through the countryside was more than just a job—it was a source of endless stories and joy, which he eagerly shared with his family every evening. Over the years, he formed many friendships with his coworkers, who became like a second family to him. Bryan’s warm personality brightened the workplace, and his genuine care for others left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.
Bryan found peace and purpose in nature. His enthusiasm for trees and plants was infectious, and he was always eager to share his knowledge with anyone willing to listen. His love for the outdoors mirrored his love for sports—both were opportunities to connect with people, share stories, and find beauty in the moment.
Bryan will be remembered as a man who was always willing to make time for others, could strike up a conversation with anyone, who loved unconditionally, and who brought warmth and humor into every room he entered. Bryan was the most selfless and friendly person you could meet, always putting the needs of others before his own and offering a calm, steady presence even in the face of life’s challenges. Bryan’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bryan’s honor to North Edmonton Minor Football Association (via e-transfer to edmontonseahawkspayments@gmail.com, or cheques can be sent directly to: PO Box 71640 RPO Oxford Park, Edmonton, AB T6V 0E3).
Dear Chelsa, Nicolas (Karen), and Amanda & family, our deepest sympathy on the passing of your Dad. We were very fortunate to connect with your Dad/our cousin Bryan and his sister Linda when they visited Ontario a few years back. Over the years we were able to visit your Dad, Linda and Aunt Kay and Uncle Chris in Alberta and also their return visits to the Granton family in Ontario. Please hold your many wonderful memories close. Bryan was a good man who loved his family. May he RIP. 🙏🏼
I am so sorry to read of Bryan’s passing. Adele was a childhood friend. Truly they must be reunited in Heaven. 💔 Condolences to all of your families. 🫂
I express my deepest sympathy in this time of sorrow. The Bible promises that your loved one will come to life again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29.
My Condolences and my deepest sympathy to Chelsa and the entire Simpson family members on the passing of Bryan. He was a guiding light in your life and touched the lives of those around him with his warmth and wisdom.
His legacy will live on in you and all the lives he touched.
I know the Almighty God will guide our beloved Bryan Joseph soul to Heaven. I wish you comfort and strength during this difficult time. Please remember that you’ll always be in my prayers.
Very saddened by this news, when I first started at ups I was Bryan’s preloader and a year later became his cover driver. You learn a lot about a person who is the regular route driver for a courier company. There was just no way I could ever measure up to the area knowledge and love from the customers for Mr. Simpson. What a kind, gentle and patient man. Never ever ignorant to me but rather a friend, a mentor and guide in my rough early years at UPS. I am sending everyone love and peace during this difficult time in grief. If there were anything I could offer, Bryan, to me, if I were to summarize from my experience would be KIND. I dont ever remember Bryan, unkind, unprofessional, and not a mean negative bone in him even when prompted by others. Truly, such an example of what and hiw we should all be. I hope he is finding the love of his life and finally reunited again!
– Warm regards, sending love and light ♡
My deepest sympathies to you Chelsa, and your family.
Your dad left a mark on me with his kindness. He was an amazing person!
Dear Linda, Chelsea and family. My deepest condolences. Bryan and I spent lots of time in our younger years as we grew up about 150 feet across the street. We played soccer for Brentwood in our younger ears. I was able to connect with Bryan in the last 5-10 years on a couple of occasions and got to say he was always a standup guy coming from a standup family.
My thoughts are with you. Take care,
Graham Hanson
My deepest sympathies to Chelsa and all the family for Bryan’s passing. He was a great person to know and work with for all the years we were with UPS. All my thoughts. Pat Kesler
