Carson Steve Kalita, born on March 30, 1937, in High Prairie, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on January 4, 2026, in St. Albert, Alberta.

Carson was born and raised on the family farm in High Prairie, a place that shaped his values and defined his life’s work. Farming was not just his occupation, but his calling. He spent his entire life working the land with dedication, resilience, and pride, embodying the strong work ethic of the generations before him.

He was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Yvonne Marie Kalita; his parents, Teodor and Katarryna Kalita; and his siblings John, Olga, Sophie, Mike, and Helen.

Carson is lovingly remembered by his son Mikita (Joanne), and grandchildren Tia and Raigan. He is also survived by his adoptive daughters Wendy Blais, Tammy Kaleta, and Susan (Randy) Keil.  He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Melissa Hessler, Tabitha (Matt) Armstrong, Mitch Matula, Jake (Brandi) Matula, and great-grandchildren Brian Hessler, Tarra and Marlene Armstrong, and Bowen and Bennett Matula.

Carson’s life was rooted in family, hard work, and the land he loved. He always had a smile on his face and loved to joke around with everyone – “If you don’t believe me ask my brother Bill”. His quiet strength, commitment to farming, and devotion to his family, will leave a legacy that will be carried on for generations.

A celebration of life will be held on the family farm in High Prairie, Alberta, in July 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends closer to the date.
