Catherine (Cathy) Anne Wyard-Scott

It is with profound love and gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Cathy Wyard-Scott (née Peers) at the age of 84. Cathy’s remaining children were at her side during her final moments, and her predeceased daughter, Janice O’Hara, was held deep in her heart every moment!

Born in Edmonton to Gordon and Myrtle Peers (née Anderson), Cathy was raised in Jasper, Alberta—"God’s country," as her mother called it—before returning to Edmonton to earn her Bachelor of Education.

A teacher at heart, she loved her work and embraced every topic, setting, and student. Throughout her career, she taught at Braemar, Continuing Education, Reach Out to School on Whyte, and St. Joseph’s to name few. To have been taught by her was to know someone who truly lived her calling.

Cathy was quick with her humour, a crib board, and her generosity! She always saw the good in others, and as her niece beautifully described her, she was a true empath. Above all else, she loved her family, firmly believing that "together we are whole."

Cathy thought of others until the very end. Displaying her true character, her final moments were spent asking if her children had slept, expressing her deep love, and thanking each of them.

Cathy is survived by her siblings Joy Tozer, Wendy Peers, Debbie Milne, Brian Peers and predeceased by her brother Randy Peers. Cathy is loved by her children Jill (James) Norris, Loren Wyard-Scott, Vanessa Wyard-Scott (Grzegorz Malkowski) and son in law Phil O'Hara. Cathy has four grandchildren Molly Wood (née O’Hara), Mark (Tara) Taylor, Max O'Hara and Eris Norris and is remembered by many others.

Cathy is predeceased by the love of her life and former husband Gerald Wyard-Scott and her later in life partner Wayne Felaber. Cathy is fondly remembered by her companion Erich Kleinke.

In honour of her continued love for her predeceased daughter, Janice, donations may be made to the University of Alberta Mazankowski Heart Institute, the Cross Cancer Institute, Doctors Without Borders, or a charity of your choice.
