Darcy Sokolosky
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darcy Grant Sokolosky of Edmonton, Alberta. Also fondly known by his many friends as “Soks”. He had a deep passion for pop culture, collecting things like action figures and other memorabilia that reflected his interests, as well as an extensive collection of records.
Darcy was born on July 24, 1960.
After high school in Vegreville, Alberta he went on to work for over 30 years at Canada Post in Edmonton.
He will be remembered for his enthusiasm for music, movies, and the arts. His love for these interests was often shared through outings to concerts and plays with his child.
Left to miss him is his child, Fern McNeil and her mother, Pat McNeil; his mother, Josie Sokolosky; his two brothers Bryn Sokolosky (Corrine) and Allan Sokolosky (Sheila) as well as nieces Bella Sokolosky and Jessica Sokolosky.
He was predeceased by his father, Metro Sokolosky and his sister Brenda Sokolosky.
At this time the family will say their final farewell to Darcy privately.
May you rest in peace Darcy and fly high above the turbulence that life can be.
I worked with Darcy for many years at Canada Post, I am so saddened to read of his passing.
He was always such a genuine and gentle soul
Always willing to lead a helping hand.
My deepest sympathies to all of his family
Great friend, great memories. Soks was part of our close knit “gang” growing up in Veg and living together in Lloydminster. Although heartbroken for his loss, I rejoice in the memories we created together and continue to laugh aloud at the early adult antics, humour, life experiences, and hilarity I had the privilege of sharing with Soks and our caring, loving group of Veg soul brothers. Soks lives in every thought and laugh l had then and l have now. God bless and protect his soul…amen
