It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Tatton on October 12, 2022 at the age of 62. George was the eldest child born to Wilfred (Bill) and Hazel Tatton on April 27, 1960 in Edmonton, Alberta. His very early years were spent on the Family Farm at Fairydell until 1964, when the family moved to Edmonton.  Most of his schooling was taken in Edmonton, until his family moved to Rocky Mountain House in 1977. He graduated from High School in 1978, and began working at various jobs until moving back to Edmonton in 1986. George enjoyed playing Hockey, Baseball, Snowmobiling, Camping, Vacations to B.C, spending time at the Farm, and just taking leisurely drives with the family.

In 1988 George married the love of his life, Sheila. Together they raised 4 children who he adored.  Life was hectic and crazy, but he was a devoted husband and father.  Not just a dad to his children, but often a father figure to many of the friends and kids from the neighborhood that came over. Always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His time was spent going to Hockey, Baseball, and Soccer games as well as Choir concerts, which always meant a family road trip to somewhere in Alberta.

George was always there cheering for his kids. When his grandchildren were born, they were his pride and joy. “Grampy” loved playing soccer with Keenan and Koston, or letting Brielle doll him up with her make-up. Little Theo was always so happy when he got to visit with Grampy. No matter how George was feeling, having his grandkids come over always put a smile on his face. And even though he passed away on his granddaughter’s birthday, we can continue to celebrate him on this day and not mourn him.

George is survived by his loving wife of 35 Years, Sheila Tatton, his four children – Krista, Megan (Taran), Jess (Zak), and Joe (Keiran).  His four Grandchildren – Koston, Keenan, Brielle, and Theodore.  His Mother Hazel Tatton, Mother-in-Law Lynda Garden, Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law Cliff (Kathy) Knull, his Sisters Mary Tatton and Billy-Jo (Dean) LeSann. His Niece Michelle (Andy) Baldwin, his Nephews Christopher (Melissa)LeSann, and Curtis (Makayla) LeSann. His Great Nephews Mason and Blake Baldwin and many other loving family members. Also, all of George’s special long-time friends who supported him with phone calls and visits over the last year. And last but not least, his faithful dog Ella!

George was predeceased by his Dad, Bill Tatton in 1990, Father-in-Law Norm Garden in 2015, and many Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins over the years.

At George’s request no funeral will be held. There will be a private Celebration of Life held at a later date.

Our Family would like to thank The Lung Transplant Team at the University of Alberta Hospital for their dedication, compassion, and support. George was extremely grateful for the lung transplant he received on January 12/22, it blessed him with more precious time to spend with his family and friends.

Donations can be made to: Alberta Lung (ablung.ca) to the Breathing Space Program

  13. I am so sorry for George’s loss of life; seems odd that both George and David died within a week of each other after weeks of breathing test and physio. I was shocked at how fast David went and flat lined. I hope you (Sheila) are keeping strong, as I am not but coping little by little everyday. We should get together for coffee phone me: 780-474-9849, Deborah
