Gerald John Morris
The family of Gerry Morris announces his peaceful passing surrounded by the love and support of his children.
Dad was born and raised in Lethbridge to parents John and Margaret Morris. He moved to Edmonton in 1951 and begin his career with Imperial Oil, which ended upon his retirement in 1987.
In 1955, Gerry met and married the love of his life, Rita. Together they raised their family of 6 children in Edmonton. In 1979, they moved to their forever home in Sherwood Park. Upon retirement, Dad and Mom spent many winters in Arizona and on the West coast.
Dad enjoyed many hobbies which included: gardening, woodworking, watchmaking, wine making, and others that he always did with precision and perfection. He was very handy, and always taught and included each of his children in his various endeavors. Dad also made sure all of his children learned the excitement of playing cards and other games. He ensured this close family bonding was passed to the next generations. As well, he and Mom were avid fans of the Edmonton Oilers, rarely missing a game!
Dad will be cherished and always remembered as a loving and loyal father to his children: Jerry, Arnie (Shirley), Patty (Mark), Marylee (Chris), Christine (Ken), and Paula (George): grandchildren, Tessa, Conn, Bryn, Tyren, Dylan, Devon, Rebecca, Scott, Bryan and 20 great-grandchildren.
Gerry was predeceased by Rita in 2023. They are now reunited in eternal peace.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Trent Dusang for his amazing care and compassion in Dad’s final weeks.
In honor of Dad’s wishes, there will not be a service.
