On June 17, 2026 Harry Anthony Knoop passed away at the age of 87.

He is survived by his daughter Debbie (David) O’Neill; son Terry Knoop; grandsons Thomas (Katie McKinnon) O’Neill, Cameron (Laura LaFrance) O’Neill and Evan (Avery Lodge) Knoop. He is also survived by his siblings Anne Coulson, Jo-anne Van Twyver, John (Marla) Knoop, Henry (Janet) Knoop, Jeannie (Jerry Lessard) Tiemessen, Edward Knoop as well as many in-laws, nephews, and nieces.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Shirley; his parents John and Anne Knoop, siblings Jack Knoop, Cornell Knoop and Greta Meyerink, as well as in-laws from the Knoop and Bootsma families.

Harry was a pioneer of girls and women’s soccer in Edmonton. He was part of the group that started the west end’s first soccer club and twice took his U-18 Girls team to the Canadian National Championships. He was instrumental in the growth of girl’s soccer in Edmonton.

He spent his working life in the grocery trade, starting as a stockboy for Loblaws and working himself up to become store manager. After, he became a partner in 7 Cities Food Brokers, before finishing his career at Western Grocers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
