It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James McKenzie Cameron on May 5, 2026, at the age of 81.

Jim dedicated much of his life to serving his community through a distinguished career in law enforcement with the Edmonton Police Service, where he proudly served from 1973 until his retirement in 1999.

Above all else, Jim was devoted to his family. He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Colleen Cameron and a loving father to Shannon (Denny), Ryan (Sharon), Carrie (Paul), Evan (Monica), Keltie (Andre), and Megan (Peter). He was also a proud and cherished “Grandpa Jimbo” to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

Jim was predeceased by his daughter, Tara Cameron, and by his parents, Alfred and Evelyn Cameron. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his sister, Verna, and brother-in-law, Bob, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He will be remembered for his dedication, strength, humour, and deep love for his family and friends. His steady presence, quick wit, and caring nature will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

  1. Jim and Collen were so good to me in my early years with the EPS. I will be forever grateful to them for their support and guidance. I have so many fond memories of Jim. Some truly funny stories that make me laugh when I think about them. I remember helping renovate their first house together. It seems we took out a support wall and nearly collapsed the hole house. Or the time Jim borrowed liquid fertilizer from his neighbour only to find out it was Round Up. Jim was an incredible Police Officer and dedicated so much of his life to helping other. I will miss him! To Colleen and Family I am truly sorry for your loss.
