Lorraine Heber
Lorraine Therese Heber (née Anctil) September 14, 1936 – January 11, 2026
Lorraine Therese Heber passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at age 89. Despite facing numerous health challenges over the past two decades, she met each with the spirit of a true warrior, always wearing a warm smile and never complaining.
Born in Girouxville, Alberta, Lorraine grew up in a tight-knit French-Canadian community that shaped her lifelong resilience. She was the youngest of 6 children and was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters. She was also predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Dennis, in 2019. She is survived by her loving children, cherished grandchildren, two great-grandchildren she longed to meet, extended family, and dear friends.
A dedicated elementary French teacher in Edmonton schools, Lorraine patiently nurtured young students, helping them build confidence in language and life. In retirement, she embraced golf at Black Bull and Windermere courses, tended her beloved garden, devoured books, and delighted in baking where her grandchildren always found fresh chocolate chip cookies waiting in the jar.
A passionate, die-hard Edmonton Oilers fan through and through, Lorraine lived and breathed Oilers hockey. She never missed a single game whether cheering from her favorite chair or gathering the family around the TV, you always knew exactly where to find her when the puck dropped. Her unwavering loyalty brought endless joy, excitement, and shared moments with loved ones.
Her faith shone through active involvement in the Catholic Women’s League, the St. Thomas More prayer shawl knitting group, and generous volunteering with St. Joseph’s Auxiliary.
Above all, Lorraine was a kind, steady, deeply caring mother, grandmother, and friend whose home welcomed all with open arms and love.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Colleen Johnston, the nursing staff at Lifestyle Options Riverbend, Dr. Soyege, and the AHS Home Care and Palliative Team for their compassionate care.
