Lorraine Therese Heber (née Anctil) September 14, 1936 – January 11, 2026

Lorraine Therese Heber passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at age 89. Despite facing numerous health challenges over the past two decades, she met each with the spirit of a true warrior, always wearing a warm smile and never complaining.

Born in Girouxville, Alberta, Lorraine grew up in a tight-knit French-Canadian community that shaped her lifelong resilience. She was the youngest of 6 children and was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters. She was also predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Dennis, in 2019. She is survived by her loving children, cherished grandchildren, two great-grandchildren she longed to meet, extended family, and dear friends.

A dedicated elementary French teacher in Edmonton schools, Lorraine patiently nurtured young students, helping them build confidence in language and life. In retirement, she embraced golf at Black Bull and Windermere courses, tended her beloved garden, devoured books, and delighted in baking where her grandchildren always found fresh chocolate chip cookies waiting in the jar.

A passionate, die-hard Edmonton Oilers fan through and through, Lorraine lived and breathed Oilers hockey. She never missed a single game whether cheering from her favorite chair or gathering the family around the TV, you always knew exactly where to find her when the puck dropped. Her unwavering loyalty brought endless joy, excitement, and shared moments with loved ones.

Her faith shone through active involvement in the Catholic Women’s League, the St. Thomas More prayer shawl knitting group, and generous volunteering with St. Joseph’s Auxiliary.
Above all, Lorraine was a kind, steady, deeply caring mother, grandmother, and friend whose home welcomed all with open arms and love.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Colleen Johnston, the nursing staff at Lifestyle Options Riverbend, Dr. Soyege, and the AHS Home Care and Palliative Team for their compassionate care.

Funeral Mass

St. Thomas More Parish
210 Haddow Close NW, Edmonton, AB

Lorraine will be deeply missed, always loved and remembered. May she rest in peace.

  1. Dear Lorraine’s family,
Thank you for writing this lovely tribute to your mom.
Bryan and I have such fond memories of your mom. Bryan has known Lorraine for as long as he can remember and fondly recalls frequently visiting the Heber home on 39th Avenue, a place filled with kindness and warmth. Our visits back to Edmonton usually included a visit with Dennis and Lorraine and it was always a delight to hear how their family members were getting along. Given that both Bryan’s parents and the Hebers relocated to Riverbed, we were easily able to stop by to enjoy their warm Heber hospitality.
Hopefully, the funeral Mass at St. Thomas More will be live streamed, and we will be able to tune in. Be assured of thoughts and prayers.

    • Thank you Bryan and Margaret for your kind words. Mom and Dad loved visiting with you both. Lots of very fond memories of growing up on 39th Avenue with both our families.
Unfortunately we won’t be doing a live stream of Mom’s funeral.
      Warm Regards
      Linda

  2. On behalf of my sister Isabelle Zielinski, I’ll say a few comments. Isabelle and her husband John spend a lot of quality time with Lorraine and Dennis over the last 40-50 years, talking education, children, grand children and of course investments. When you’re fortunate to find kindred spirits it makes everything in life so much better. Condolences to the family with utmost sincerity. My wife and I would be honored to attend the funeral to represent the Zielinski family.
    Fred Hoeber

    • Fred thank you so much. Yes there are many pictures of the four of them gathering over the years. Wonderful friends. We look forward to seeing you.
      Warm Regards
      Linda
