Luana Marguerite Houston, 89 of Edmonton, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024 in hospice at the Capital Care Norwood.

Luana was born in Stockholm, Saskatchewan to Stuart and Goldie Stenberg on July 13, 1934.

In 1959, she married William Houston and in the early years of their marriage, they moved to many different cities in Canada to accommodate his employment opportunities, finally settling in Edmonton.  They had two children, Rae-Ann and William (Bill).  The marriage ended when the children were quite young and Luana, now a single mother, reinvented herself as a realtor, a career she maintained for over 30 years.

Luana enjoyed listening to the bag pipes and attending Scottish Ceilidhs.  She loved cooking, entertaining and kept herself social and active with aqua-aerobics, bowling, and bridge tournaments throughout her life.

Luana is preceded in death by her parents, Goldie & Stuart Stenberg, and her much beloved brother, Darwin Stenberg.

Luana is survived by her daughter Rae-Ann Houston (Warren Arndt) and son Bill Houston, Grandchildren Quinn Starko (Jason) and Maclain (Mac) Arndt, and Great Grandchildren Bryson and Camden Starko.  Her generous spirit and love of family will be sorely missed by all.

The family of Luana Houston wishes to extend our sincere thanks to The Churchill Cogir (Revera) Staff, Unit 54 of The Royal Alexander Hospital and the Rehab & Hospice Department of Capital Care Norwood.  A special thanks goes out to close family friends Alisdair Archibald, Deborah Witwicki and Gordon Salway for always being there for Luana.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am, Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Trinity Funeral Home, 10530 116 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta
