Luis Antonio Miño Hernandez
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father/husband/grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many at the age of 74. He was born in Santiago, Chile; immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1978; shortly thereafter moved to Edmonton to raise his family and for the last few years resided in Calmar, Alberta, calling Canada his home for the past 48 years.
He is survived by and leaves to mourn his wife of 55 years Maria Eugenia, his four children: Roxana (Richard), Rodrigo (Rae Ann), Claudia (Americo), and Viviana (Agnes); he also leaves behind his cherished Grandchildren and Great grandchildren who lovingly call him Tata and Lulu. He is predeceased by his parents and two siblings in Santiago, Chile.
He proudly worked as a Glazier for 40 years with his last job and retirement from Andino Glass Ltd where he serviced the Edmonton community and his beloved Chilean and Spanish-speaking communities. He was diagnosed with terminal IPF in December 2019 and faced this illness with remarkable courage for these past six years.
He was a strong advocate for Worker rights, social justice for all, a proud supporter of the NDP Party, and a supporter to the Chilean community specifically the Los Andes Housing Co-op (1984-2005).
The Miño family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Justin Sebastian, the Lung Transplant team at the U of A, and the Staff at Advanced Respiratory Care specifically the Sherwood Park office.
A private family viewing was held on February 7, 2026, at Trinity Funeral Home; thank you Father Basil and staff at Trinity Funeral Home.
Cremation took place at Trinity Funeral Home and he was laid to rest wearing a traditional Chilean Huaso outfit.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held, March 21, 2026

We Love and Miss you!

Papi, I I’m so blessed to have been able to share some time with you on this Earth. I will never forget our interesting and stimulating conversations and your wonderful home cooked bread.
