
Mary Cecillia Philip
Mary passed away on Saturday, January 18 th, 2025, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Mary leaves behind her loving husband Gordon Philip; their children Kevin (Kara), Glenn (Amanda) and her son Don (Laura). She has five grandchildren Lily, Molly, Eliza, Gregory, and Daniel. Mary is survived by her siblings Jim (Toni), Bill (Darlene), and Terry, in addition to her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her father Tom and mother Marie Maloney (nee Bickerstaff), son Michael, and siblings: Joe, Diane, JoAnne, and Tom.
Mary grew up on the family farm where she experienced the benefits of a close, extended family.
Mary and Gordon were married on July 13 th, 1974. They settled in Calgary for a short time until moving to Edmonton in the fall of 1976. Kevin was born in March 1977, and shortly thereafter they moved to Sherwood Park. Michael was born in April 1978, followed by Glenn in August 1979. After becoming empty nesters, Mary and Gordon relocated to British Colombia where they lived until retiring in 2019. They retired to Leduc to be closer to family. Mary was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis in 2012 turning to acute cancer in 2023. After a courageous battle, she succumbed to her illness on January 18 th, 2025. Mary’s fondest memories were of watching her children succeed. She enjoyed having a Slurpee while driving through the Alberta countryside with Gordon.
A PrayerService will be held on Thursday January 30, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 13 Brower Dr, Sherwood Park, AB.
