Mary Ellen Pierce

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful, but unexpected passing of Mary Pierce (Dixon), age 84. Mary passed away leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

Mary was born in Edson, Alberta to Bill and Lucy Dixon. She was raised and educated in Mercoal, Peers, and Edson. She moved to Edmonton to pursue a clerical education. “Mary Lady” was employed by the provincial government through her working years.

Above all, Mary was a loving wife and the heart of her family. Mary leaves behind her husband Jim, their children (Brad, Bonnie, & Lori), nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, and their lovely dog Cindy. She is also survived by her brothers Bill, George, and Marshall. She was predeceased by her sister Beverly. Mary will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Mary was a kind, generous soul who always thought of others before herself.

She was a woman of many talents and joys. A devoted gardener with the best pea crop around, Mary also loved knitting, line dancing, and bargain hunting. She never met a coupon she didn't love and took great pride in finding a good deal. We take comfort in the many memories she leaves behind.

Highly organized and always on the move, Mary faithfully tracked her steps with her Fitbit. She was also famously resourceful and rarely wasted anything, always finding ways to reuse items and make the most of what she had. Whether through her sense of style, her practical nature, or her warm and loving personality, Mary left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Mary had a generous spirit that extended well beyond her family. She donated to many health related charities and was known for her thoughtful gift and card-giving.
