Michael (Mike) Stemler
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Mike Stemler, on July 5, 2025, at Pilgrims Hospice, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Mike was a proud graduate of the University of Alberta. He built a successful career in sales at Xerox Canada, where he was not only a valued colleague but a trusted mentor to many. Mike’s warmth, wisdom, and integrity left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with — especially long-standing clients like Edmonton Public Schools, with whom he shared meaningful professional relationships.
Above all else, Mike's greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his dedicated wife Rebecca Stemler, his Father Gregory Stemler, his Sister Dawn Hawley, and was predeceased by his mother Ollie Stemler. He was a devoted and deeply loving father to Jarrett (Ashley) and Kate (Don), and an adoring Papa to his grandchildren: Adelyn, Emelia, Emery, Lennon, and Ramsay. His love for them was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with them — truly, the best Papa ever.
Mike touched the lives of so many with his brilliance, generosity, and humor and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him. He was often a voice of reason, thoughtful, steady, and sincere. Naturally people frequently sought him out for guidance and advice. Whether in business or among friends and family, Mike's counsel came from a place of experience, empathy, and deep care. Mike will also be remembered for his love of golf, Disney, home renos, and the holidays.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the incredible team at the Cross Cancer Institute and to the compassionate caregivers at the Roozen Family Pilgrims Hospice Centre, who provided Mike with exceptional care in his final days.
To honor Mike’s memory, the family kindly encourages donations to the Pilgrims Hospice Society — a place that gave so much peace and dignity during a difficult time.
A private celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date.

He will be forever missed and always remembered with love.
Mike had a larger than life personality. His laugh was indeed infectious. I really enjoyed working with him over the years and always looked forward to a game of golf together.
So sorry for your loss. For most of my childhood Mike was a huge presence in our lives. From the minute we were brought into his parent’s lives, we were family. Will always have such fond memories of the Lake and all the great times we had there. Whenever we knew we’d be seeing Mike and Becky, we were thrilled as it always meant so much laughter and good times. Much love to the Stemlers for this devastating loss. Kelly (+ family)
Sincere Condolences to the Stemler Family.
Parents Greg and Ollie Stemler lived in the same area as my parents. To this day Mike’s sister Dawn Hawley and I remain very good friends as we grew up in the same community. When it came to my grade nine graduation from Rosslyn Junior High School Mike was my escort. With my Dad’s red Cadillac Mike took me to the evening Graduation celebration. Mike was always so gracious and dedicated to his career. Most of all Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family. Becky, Dawn and family so many life long memories to hold onto. I was so blessed to know Mike as he touched the hearts of so many people.
Greg, Dawn, Becky and family.
My condolences for the loss of Mike.
Times we will remember
