It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we mourn the sudden passing of Mike Orest Panas on August 23, 2022.

Mike is survived by his wife Gerry, daughter Cathy (Patrick), niece Debbie and her family. He was predeceased by his mother, father and brother, Peter.

Mike was born and raised on the family farm near Daysland, AB. Mike’s trucking company brought him to Fort McMurray where he met the love of his life, Gerry, who was just smitten with him, as he was with her. His daughter Cathy was a source of endless pride. Mike retired from his trucking career as a dedicated employee of Gregg Distributors. Mike was a hunter, a curler, a volunteer, a cruiser, and loved by many.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Unit 33, Observation and ICU.

A service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Trinity Funeral Home in Edmonton. There will be a public visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

  1. Gerry and family I am so extremely sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. I know how much he was loved and how greatly he will be missed. My deepest condolences.

  2. It really is with great sadness and heavy hearts as we mourn the loss of a great man loved by so many. Mike was always there for everyone. As he collected the bottles for the social fund, walked the halls, worked with contractors, fed the birds, volunteered his driving services, he was the extra eyes and ears for Hudson House which we were always grateful for and could not have done it without him. For the 9 years I was property manager at Hudson House Mike & Gerry always made me feel like family. They were both always there for me, treated me like their own daughter. I’ll never forget our breakfast dates, lol. I’m so glad I got to see Mike before he passed, he showed me around Hudson House’s renovations, we talked, laughed, shared memories. Thank you for still making me feel like family. Mike will be forever missed, but never forgotten. Until we meet again, watch over us! My thoughts, prayers, condolences and my love go out to Gerry & Cathy & Patrick and family for their loss of a wonderful husband, father, friend. God Bless You!
    Love
    Victoria
