On July 30, 2012 Mrs. Piedade Duarte of Edmonton passed away at the age of 86 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Saozita (Firmino Lucas) Reis, Carma (Jose) Antunes and Rosa (Albert) Neves; two sons George and Luis (Rosa); daughter-in-law Carmo; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, four sisters as well as numerous relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Antonio Gomes Duarte in 2001.
