We are sad to announce the passing of Roy Wesley Thomas John on January 11, 2026 at the age of 83 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Roy was born in Edmonton on May 26, 1942 to Mary and William John.  He was a machinist/millwright and worked for Epcor for many years.

Retirement brought travels in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  He liked volunteering at the local elementary school and the Edmonton Power Historical Society, keeping fit and gardening.   He loved celebrations and  socializing with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family.

We wish to thank the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories for their support and the Benevolence Care Centre for their kindness and compassion to Roy and his family

  15. Carol and I were sorry to hear that Roy had passed. We certainly had a few chuckles over the years with you both at the EPCO parties and how about those curling bonspiel’s! Good times. I was fortunate enough to have worked with Roy John at Rossdale and Cloverbar for many years. He always had a BIG smile happening and always ready to crack a joke or two. The Back 40 get togethers after work on the occasional Friday @ Cloverbar was his time to shine, he knew he had our complete attention and had us all laughing and enjoying our time up on the hill. Bye bye Roy John and keep that BIG smile happening..
