Shirley A. King
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley King who passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at the age of 82.
Shirley was born on June 17, 1943. She was a devoted mother whose greatest joy in life was her family. Though life brought its share of challenges, she remained deeply connected to the people she loved most.
For much of her life, Shirley worked as an oilfield camp cook, a role she truly loved. In addition to cooking, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and cross-stitching, and she found joy in creating things with her hands.
Some of the family’s most treasured memories were spent working alongside Mom in the garden and gathering together to can the harvest. Shirley loved growing vegetables and flowers, raising chickens and geese, and filling freezers and pantry shelves with the results of everyone’s hard work. While the chores were not always the children’s favorite tasks, they were things Shirley truly loved and took great pride in.
One of Shirley’s favorite things was visiting her children and heading straight out to see their gardens. She was always so proud of the beautiful flowers and gardens her children had created, and she took great joy in seeing them flourish.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Kimberley (John), Sandra (Rob), Yvonne (Tony), and Steven (Tammy). She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She is also survived by her siblings Helen (the late Harley), Carol (Len), Judy (Grant), Bob (the late Mona), Sharon (Bill), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Stan and Nettie Glover.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved her, may she now rest in peace.

We remember Shirley with great fondness. Hard working , kind happy memories as we worked together planting flowers . Our Sincere condolences to all her family . Peter and Brenda Oudijn.

R I P peace my dear Sister🙏❤️🙏
Thank you Aunty!
Shirley worked in our greenhouse during the transplanting season. It was in the early days of the Root Seller, around 2000, and our business was young and we didn’t have the luxuries we have today. She was a hard worker and we enjoyed her company as we worked together. She was amazing. She would bring in home baked goodies she had made that morning before coming in to work! It was a pleasure to have known Shirley and I am sure she will be working hard in her garden “on the other side”.
Thank you so much for sharing that memory of Mom. She loved working with you guys and spoke of you often.
My deepest Sympathy to your Family.
Shirley will be missed by all who knew her.
The care that was provided for Shirley by Kim, Yvonne, & Sandy was remarkable.
Rest in Peace Shirley.
Thank you Marg! 🙏🥹
