It is with incredible sadness that we tell you of the passing of Shirley Blake.

On Wednesday May 7, Shirley passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted partner and love, Ron Keller, her loving daughter Ashley Taylor and her sister Janet Cameron by her side.

Known as Mumsy, Shirl and Sweetheart, Shirley had so many wonderful qualities. She had a great sense of humor, was generous, kind, compassionate, and loved her life. She was a true friend. Even on her toughest days she remained a positive person, never lost her spirit and always found a way to smile or help someone. Her laughter was large and spread warmth all around her.

Shirley was passionate about flowers and looked forward to spring when she could start planning and planting. She loved animals and her cat Gracie was a great joy in her life. Her favorite movie was Titanic … she watched it so many times she could tell you what the actors would say next or say it at the same time. Survivor couldn’t be missed … no one could speak to her when it was on. And she loved football.

We miss her immensely.

Finally, we are so grateful to the incredible people at the Misericordia Hospital CICU who took such good care not only of our Shirley but we who stayed with her in her last steps.

There will be a private family gathering to release Shirley at her most favorite place on earth on her birthday.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Edmonton Humane Society
