Victor John Stryski
June 27, 1945 - May 31, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Victor John Stryski announce his passing on May 31, 2026 in the Red Deer Hospital at the age of 80.
Victor spent 2 years with the Canadian Armed Forces, then worked for Calgary Power/TransAlta from 1966 to 1998. During his 30 year plus utility years of service he worked with a survey crew, Distribution Lineman and as a Landman for the most part throughout his retirement years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years Margaret Glasford, two sisters Jeanette Davis and Betty (Lorne) Knudslien as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends
Victor was predeceased by his parents Nick and Jean Stryski, Brother Edward,and Sister Gladys.
As per Victors request there will be no service.

We were so sad to hear of Vic’s passing. Some of our fondest memories are of the gatherings that we enjoyed with you both over the years. Our family, the Robertsons, is deeply saddened to learn (just today) of Vic’s passing. We knew and liked him immensely from the time that he started dating Margaret, who was our cousin (her mother was our father’s eldest sister). Early on in their relationship, Margaret came down with shingles, and he devoted himself to her throughout the long period of her illness. That typified the way that he would care for her throughout many difficult periods in her life, particularly involving her family. Vic was always a rock in their relationship, but he was a lot of fun, too, and we always enjoyed seeing him.
We last saw Vic and Margie at our mutual cousin, Colleen Hanna’s, celebration of life almost exactly a year ago. Vic was his usual outgoing self, and we tried to make arrangements to visit them in Red Deer soon thereafter. He did mention that his illness had returned and that Margie was suffering from Alzheimer’s; but he seemed, if not exactly optimistic, quite able to handle whatever might come. I received an email from my cousin shortly thereafter, saying that, due to serious health issues, they would have to postpone a visit.
Our quandary is that, due to her condition, Margaret hasn’t responded to emails and we don’t know how to get in touch with one of our favorite cousins. We guess that she may no longer be at their home of many years. While another cousin is going to Red Deer from Gull Lake to try to locate her, this may not be possible for privacy reasons. Please reach out to me if you can help us locate her. She is very dear to us and our worry in not knowing what has happened to her will match our sorrow in losing Vic.

I second my cousin Leslie’s thoughts regarding both Vic and Marg. Well written.
For me, I would drop by their Red Deer home while driving to or from the Gull Lake Cabin we shared for so many years. Mostly Vic was involved with a home project and Marg and I were left to have tea together and chat and laugh and catch up.
I am so grateful to them both Marg and Vic for attending my sister Colleen’s Celebration of Life in Calgary at the end of June this year.
Vic will be so missed by my cousin and friend Marg Glasford, and by every one whose life he touched. Travel Well Victor.
