On December 18, 2025, Wayne D’Amico passed away peacefully and surrounded by love, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 9, 1944, in Nordegg, Alberta, Wayne lived a life rich with laughter, loyalty, and adventures.

Wayne was a man with a big heart and an even bigger sense of humour. He loved telling a good joke, sharing a laugh, and making sure everyone around him was smiling. If there was joy in the room, Wayne either found it—or created it. He fought passionately for the people he loved and stood firmly by them through anything.

A true lover of life’s simple pleasures, Wayne enjoyed watching sports, fishing trips to Goldeye, and golfing every chance he could. He never passed up a good meal and was famously known for finishing anyone’s plate without hesitation. Time spent around a table, on the water, or on the golf course was time well spent in Wayne’s eyes.

Above all else, Wayne cherished his family and friends. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers Jim (Donna) and Gavin (Brenda); his son Giovanni; his granddaughter Mya (Matt); and an army of friends who were like family and remained by his side until the very end. To many, he wasn’t just a friend—he was family.

To many, he was simply Poppa: a man who loved to laugh and loved making others laugh just as much. His warmth, humour, and unwavering love will live on in the countless stories shared, the jokes retold, and the memories held close.

Wayne’s life will be celebrated through laughter, friendship, and the enduring love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
