Monica Mercedes Martinez

We are saddened to announce the passing Monica Mercedes Martinez, of our beautiful sister, querida hija, and beloved aunt.

Monica passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025. Her loss has been devastating and shocking to all of us who knew and loved her deeply.

Monica was deeply devoted to her family and a loving caregiver to her nephew Elias. Monica was born an artist and saw the potential to create art everywhere. Through her work she tried to see the beauty and sometimes, humour, in everything. She transformed every space she was in, and was supportive of her friends and her art community. Her kindness, intelligence, and curiosity were just a few of the qualities that made her extraordinary.

She was a gentle and loving presence in our lives, and her absence is profound and still difficult to believe.

Per Monica’s wishes, her family will be having a private celebration of her life.

If you would like to remember Monica, please do so by being kind in your actions, and do your best to see beauty everywhere. This is how she was in life, and how she would want us to remember her.

We love you Monica. We miss you. We will be together again one day.
