Darryl was born in Edmonton February 5, 1943, and passed peacefully in his residence September 19, 2023. He is survived by two sons, Darcy (Tannis) and Duane, grandchildren Brielle, Ashley, and Sarah. Darryl was proud of his grandchildren and supported them in their many activities.

Darryl was the eldest of 5 children and is predeceased by his parents Norman and Florence, sister Wendy, and stepbrother Duane. He is survived by his brother Evan (Donna), sister Terri (Bob), and brother Lonnie (Susan) as well as nieces and nephews.

Darryl started his career in autobody repair, then joined the Edmonton Police Service. After policing, the family moved to Mayerthorpe to start a business. During this time, he worked at the hospital and held positions as a town councillor, deputy mayor, and volunteer firefighter.

Darryl enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, the outdoors, playing pool, and was an accomplished curler. His favorite pastime as he grew older was his love of antiques and collectibles which kept him busy at antique shows throughout Alberta.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Darryl on October 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (200 Veterans Blvd, Spruce Grove, AB T7X 3A5) with Fr. Paul Moret to officiate and a reception to follow the service.

  1. I send my deepest sympathy in this time of sorrow. The Bible promises that your loved one will live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more. (John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4)

  2. The Brown Family,

We just heard of Daryls passing yesterday. He will be greatly missed.

We met Daryl years ago when he resided in Calgary and shared tables at antique shows. His wit and humour never went unnoticed. He was a very kind, genuine and humble man.

We then met him again in Edmonton once he moved this way. Again we shared tables side by side at various shows and always enjoyed his humour and personality.

He talked highly of his grandchildren always.

What a great man that our world has lost. RIP Daryl.
