Paul David Wager
With deep sadness and a profound sense of loss, we announce that Paul David Wager departed this world on August 3, 2026.
Paul was born on June 15, 1943, in the small lakeside village of Ahmic Harbrour, Ontario, the fourth of six children born to George and Jean Wager.
Paul is predeceased by his beloved wife Bonnie, his parents, his siblings Jack, Harry and Mavis.
He leaves behind his sons Jamie and Randy, his grandchildren Jesse, David, and Miranda, his sister Georgee and husband Rick and sister Betty, along with numerous nieces and nephews, friends and former co-workers, across both Alberta and Ontario, who feel his absence deeply.
Paul and Bonnie began their life together in Oshawa, where they both worked at General Motors before moving their young family to Edmonton in 1977 in search of job opportunities and new adventures. Paul excelled professionally, building a respected career as a salesman and later General Manager with GH Woods in Edmonton, Grande Prairie, and Calgary. In 1990 he joined Jasper Tank as General Manager where he remained until his retirement at age 65.
His strong work ethic, dedication, integrity, compassion and steady leadership earned him friendship and admiration from both his colleagues and employees alike. Outside of work, Paul was happiest with a project in front of him. He loved tinkering with anything electrical or mechanical – antique radios, clocks, vintage cars, and any gadget that challenged him. His fascination with HAM radios connected him with other enthusiastic supporters who continued to visit and stay in touch with him over the years. In addition, he was an avid Corvette enthusiast.
Paul will be remembered for his generous nature and warm demeanor, always with a sparkle in his eye, ready to tell or be told a good joke, always with a quick and infectious laugh, and a kind heart. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
We will miss you dear dad, grandpa, brother, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Rest in peace Paul. Bonnie is waiting for you.

Paul and Bonnie requested that their ashes be co-mingled and scattered on the shores and waters of Ahmic Lake in Ahmic Harbour, Ontario, a place filled with cherished memories.

I have many, many great memories of Uncle Paul.. working with him in Oshawa in the summer, riding on the back of his 900 Kawasaki, cruising in his Ford Mustang GT in the 70’s. He was alway there for me growing up and as a young adult. He knew his stuff when we talked about vintage cars. We hunted together and spent some really good times at the Hunt Camp in Ahmic Harbour and we worked together. I will miss his jokes and teasing me about the Toronto Maple Leafs – but mostly I will miss him because he was alway there for me.
RIP Uncle Paul – my heart is broken and it’s tough to imagine this world without you.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Paul’s passing. I first met Paul in Grande Prairie, Alberta in 1985. Our Amateur Radio Club was holding a course to learn the hobby. Paul attended and passed with the call VE6VET. We remained good friends and I eventually moved to Calgary to work with Paul. Paul then moved to Edmonton, but we kept in touch through our Amateur Radio hobby, as well as many personal visits.
Paul inspired me through many of life’s experiences with the phrase: ” You are a survivor.” Hi words of confidence and support will remain with me always. You will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace and may God Bless you.

Thank you Dennis. I know that Paul always looked forward so much to the times you came to visit over the years and the two of you “hammed” around. He never lost the enthusiasm for Ham Radios and your friendship.
I was a young sandblaster when Paul hired me to work in his paint shop. I enjoyed the time I spent with Paul having lunch and drinking coffee as he made work fun. It was a family operation and Paul made me feel like I was family too. I will miss him.
