With broken hearts, we share the sudden passing of Robert Szpil who was born on February 20, 1968 in Zakopane, Poland and passed away on July 14, 2025 at the age of 57 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Robert will be dearly missed by his wife Irmina; children Patrick and Lucas; aunt and uncle Halina and Milan; cousins Kathy, Monica, Evette, Linda, Albert and Daniel and their families, as well as many other family and friends in Poland and England.

He was predeceased by his mother Maria and father Jozef.

Robert was a kind and generous soul — someone who gave effortlessly, loved wholeheartedly, and carried a quiet strength that comforted those around him. He didn’t seek the spotlight, but his presence was deeply felt — steady, calming, and full of warmth. With a gentle heart and a warm, playful spirit, he was the kind of person you could always rely on — whether you needed a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply someone to sit beside in silence.

Though he was a private man who didn’t always express his feelings openly, Robert’s love for his family ran deep. He was devoted to his wife, Irmina, and deeply loved his sons, Patrick and Lucas. They were the heart of his world.

He had a lifelong love for boxing and found peace in the rhythm of the gym. It wasn’t just about fitness or discipline — for Robert, it was a place of solace. The gym became his refuge, where he could let go of the day’s weight, reconnect with himself, and find a sense of calm. In that space, he felt free — strong, grounded, and truly at ease. He was deeply loved, is endlessly missed, and will be forever remembered.

  1. My friend my cousin , we had some great times, you will be missed !

  2. My Dearest Brother,
I still can’t believe you’re gone — it feels unreal.
We grew up together, faced life’s ups and downs side by side, and no matter how different we were, there was always this unbreakable bond between us.
I’ll miss your laugh, your advice, your stubbornness — everything that made you you.
There is now a space in my life that no one else can ever fill.

Once, you asked me to send you a bit of earth in a bag for your funeral — just like in that famous Polish movie „Sami Swoi”.
“Wzięłam woreczek ziemi ze sobą. Jakby mnie kto zastrzelił albo co, żebyście mi grobu cudzą ziemią nie posypywali.”
I did. It was supposed to be a joke.
But somehow, heartbreakingly, it came true.

Rest easy, my brother. Until we meet again.
    Tomek

  3. My sincerest condolences to Irmina and their sons.
May you find comfort in the name of the Lord
Your in my thoughts and prayers
